The most common mistake in a new tower is installing too early. A new high-rise slab typically needs 30 to 60 days of curing before a moisture test gives a number that means anything, and a pre-construction buyer taking possession usually wants their floor in during week one. Concrete that looks and feels dry on the surface can still be releasing moisture from its depth, and a glue-down floor laid onto it releases months later with no obvious cause. The upside of a new building is that the slab is generally flat, so the levelling line that dominates older units here is often zero.
Builder-grade floor removed and replaced, timed against the slab cure.
Calcium chloride reading and a primer matched to the result.
Underlay specified to the declaration, with the lab certificate for the board.
Under 30 to 60 days and a moisture test tells you nothing useful yet. This is the main reason to wait.
Builder-grade laminate is often thin and already damaged by trades. Replacing it early avoids paying twice for removal later.
Newer buildings are not automatically more permissive, and several set IIC 55 as a hard floor.
Replacing a builder-supplied floor can affect what the builder warranty covers. Check before lifting it.
The flooring that comes with a new unit is specified to a budget and it has usually been walked on by every trade in the building before you get the keys. Replacing it while the unit is empty is the cheapest it will ever be, because you pay to lift it once either way and there is no furniture to move. The one thing to check first is whether lifting it affects anything the builder still warrants, which your purchase documents will say.

We chose Ontario Flooring for luxury vinyl plank installation in our basement. They prepared the subfloor properly, explained the process clearly, and delivered an even, durable finish.
Ontario Flooring replaced old carpet in our bedrooms with new flooring. They worked efficiently, helped us understand the options, and completed the installation on schedule.
Possibly not, and this is worth hearing early. If the slab is under 30 to 60 days old a moisture test will not give a usable reading, and installing on an unverified slab is how a glue-down floor fails. A floating floor over a suitable barrier is often the way to proceed sooner.
If you are unhappy with it, replacing it now is cheaper than replacing it in three years, because you pay to lift it once either way and the unit is empty right now. Check first whether lifting it affects any builder warranty on the unit.
Often not, which is a genuine saving here. New slabs are usually within tolerance. We still straightedge it, because a slab within construction tolerance is not automatically within flooring tolerance.
